I definitely learned more from this class. Now I know what to expect on the SAT, what there is that would trip me up, as well as some useful tips. During the practice tests I learned where I need improvement and where I am strongest. Now I can concentrate on my weak points (such as grid-ins) and make them stronger, and shore up where I am already strong. I feel Matt + Marlee were both very helpful.

It was a great group setting. Andrea taught me different methods and I learned a lot especially in English. In Reading I also learned different strategies on how to read the passages. I see myself doing well in subjects that I was not doing well in before.

I contacted WaveLength Tutoring in Spring 2012 to inquire about their tutoring services. I was searching for someone to help strengthen my son's writing skills over the summer. After receiving my email, Marlee from WaveLength contacted me. I knew we were in good hands as she patiently listened as I explained our background and exactly what I was looking for. (These initial conversations were important to me. I was tired of spending money for services that weren't the right fit. It was important to make sure we were on the same page and I'm glad she took the time to do that.) Based on our conversations she recommended Daniel Sozomenu to work with my son. She felt like that would be a good fit based on my child's interests and needs. And she was right! It's hard to convince a middle schooler to do extra work in the summer. However, Daniel made it easy. It was quickly apparent that Daniel had a wealth of knowledge to share with my son. But more importantly, he quickly established a good relationship with my son. As a result, I not only noticed an improvement in his writing skills but more importantly in his attitude towards writing. After working with Daniel, his writing improved and his confidence increased. The sessions with Daniel were a worthwhile investment and I wouldn't hesitate to call on Daniel and WaveLength again.

My experience with Wavelength was great overall. Not only did I see an increase in my score, but I actually enjoyed going to the after school classes. The program teaches some different and eye-opening techniques that help make the problems much more approachable. The insight that I gained with Wavelength’s classes and private tutoring helped me increase my score by 230 points. While starting out in the classroom, I quickly learned that the tutors are extremely dedicated and qualified. They not only have a comprehensive understanding of the SAT, but also a gift for working with young adults. Their group can relate to students well. Knowing that each student is different, they set aside time one on one to figure out the individual problems that the students face. The tutors get to know each student on a personal level, allowing them to draw connections to how they think about the SAT problems, with how they face problems in the real world. On the English side, I learned how to find the right answer with more accuracy and simplicity, while simultaneously cutting down the time it takes to do so. In Math, I was taught how to break down the tests into sections and how to find the most direct route to the correct response. All of it required much practice and hard work, but I was so thrilled with my Wavelength experience, that once the classes ended, I continued with private tutoring in Math to increase my score. Applying to some of the best and most competitive undergraduate business schools in the country, I knew that I needed to have a high math score in order to be accepted. And I knew exactly who to call. Matt, having had me in the class before, understood my obstacles. We delved deeper to figure out how to receive the score I needed. Matt discovered that my problems were all mental, and worked with me as a coach would. We spent hours, often overtime, to increase my speed, build confidence, and approach each problem with the Wavelength strategy that significantly increased accuracy. I could really feel how he was rooting for me and truly cared about my success. After much practice, my math score increased by an additional 100 points, helping me land a spot at my number one school choice. For that, I will be forever grateful. Most SAT tutors drill students with problems and lectures, teaching all of the vocabulary, grammar, and math that is needed on the SAT. With that said, however, students taking the SAT have already learned most of what is on the test. Everyone needs a refresher, so Wavelength of course provides that, but it is mostly about strategy and practice. If a student puts the work in that the program demands, he or she can expect an excellent outcome.

I took the ACT class and I was taught by Daniel. The class was free-flowing and laid-back. I definitely learned skills that were useful on the ACT, evident by my boosted score!

The teachers helped us understand the techniques on taking the SAT and the ACT. I found the practice tests and what we learned in class helped immensely when taking my tests.

Reading – has helped me recognize grammatical patterns that allow me to find issues within a sentence. Taught me to read stories much faster and extrapolate the most important details from them. Helped in the orderly structure of my essay as well as the expectation for my essay by the audience. Teacher is very knowledgeable, respectful, and fun. Math – has been extremely useful in terms of speeding up problem time and breaking down the question to simpler terms. Teacher is respectful, knowledgeable, and fun. Has also contributed to my comprehension skills on questions.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in WaveLength classes but I still remember that they helped. My score went up 100 points after the course and then over 100 more when I took the SAT again in the fall. Both Marlee and Matt knew what they were doing; the flash cards were great tools for the vocab and the problem-solving approach did wonders for my success on the math portion. The courses were an integral part of my college prep and even helped me get into plenty of my preferred schools.

I completely underestimated how awesome and helpful these SAT classes would be, especially where math is concerned (just because I’m already pretty solid in english). Thank you so much Matt and Marlee! I’m really bad at writing these things, but suffice to say that you guys have definitely been a positive thing in my life.
