94.3 The Point interviews WaveLength on Covid-19 FAQs and standardized test prep and college planning
Take control of your SAT prep, ACT prep, SSAT prep, MCVSD prep, AP exams, college counseling, high school admissions tests, or entrance exams in Monmouth, Essex and Ocean Counties New Jersey and beyond with our seasoned, personal guidance, private tutoring, and small group test prep classes. Private Independent psycho-educational learning evaluations are available through our learning specialist and student advocate to assist and support IEP and Section 504 Plan development along with modifications, accommodations and student advocacy. We identify potential learning disabilities and weaknesses that may be impacting a student such as dyslexia, ADHD, auditory processing disorder, and perceptual reasoning using a comprehensive evaluation process.
What separates our private SAT prep and SAT prep classes from all other tutoring companies is basic. We don’t memorize a script or merely teach SAT tricks. We start with effective, innovative techniques formulated from years of test research and then we flex those techniques to the individualized learning style and goal of each student we teach.
Who we are matters. We are small by design—our rigorous screening process has vetted us just a handful of inspired educators trained in WaveLength technique, but with progressive teaching instincts all their own so that our material is dynamic for each of our unique students. Helping students reach their goals for the SAT and College Admissions is a hard habit to break: more than half our faculty has been with us over a decade.
You will feel the difference with us from your first call. Our sunny receptionist will greet you and immediately connect you with Marlee or Matt, WaveLength owners and curriculum writers. You go straight to the top with us. From our first phone consultation about the time line and game plan for success on the SAT or ACT to college letters of acceptance, we focus on our client’s experience. And we are aware throughout that our client is not only the parent, but also the student. From day one, we have an open and easy line of communication. Our students have our cell phone numbers and are encouraged to reach out to us with their questions whether we are currently working with them or have done so in the past. Transitioning from tutor to advisor and, often, mentor, we see the journey through. We offer tutoring support and consultation after class is done. Just reach out.
Classes are capped small so that we can bring our private tutoring experience into the classroom. We can get to know each individual, not only by reviewing their homework and handwriting week to week, but also with open and unscripted dialogue and by observation of their reactions and habits. We see how students organize their thoughts on paper and offer guidance on real improvements that ripple into their school work and their daily lives. Cultivating innate curiosity, often stymied by the pressures of school, is a cornerstone of our success.
Our time-tested, proven curriculum has a true beginning, middle and end to improve test scores across all of their academics with efficiency and continuity. Study skills are woven into our every lesson, from note-taking and highlighting, to attention span, reading skills, and time and stress management. Our course packet, The Skinny, offers a unique and thorough review of test content and strategy in a thin and manageable pamphlet. Perhaps most importantly, each of our 6-week SAT courses is taught by the Matt & Marlee themselves, the curriculum writers and authors of The Skinny, freeing us to adjust to each small group as needed. We discuss your student’s timeline and advise them on which tests to take and when. This isn’t just SAT prep. This is personal guidance counseling for college admissions with an unblinking eye on the big picture: maximizing options and opportunity for every single student we teach.
Founded in Red Bank, our company has enjoyed much praise from the community in which we both work and live.
